MISSION
To bring the message of Christ love and mercy to those incarcerated as well as provide education, assistance, and accompaniment to the families of those incarcerated as they await to be reunited with their family member.
INFORMATION
The Diocese of Corpus Christi serves twelve counties in South Texas, and there are almost 13,000 incarcerated in jails, prisons, and detention centers. We are always seeking volunteers who want to live out Matthew 25:36, “…in prison and you visited me…” We visit men, women, youth and children facilities, and some need Spanish speaking volunteers. Our volunteers consist of a few lay leaders, nuns, deacons, and priests, and we are in desperate need of more volunteers to serve in this beautiful ministry. The Office of Social Ministry will be sponsoring the Angel Tree Project once again for children whose parent(s) are incarcerated. This year we are estimating over 100 children in need of an “Angel”. If you would like to receive more information about becoming an “Angel” to a child(ren) in need, please contact Heath Garcia at [email protected] or call (361) 882-6191 ext. 687.
