Dispensation will soon end and the obligation for the faithful to attend Sunday Mass and Holy Days in the Diocese of Corpus Christi begins the weekend of Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. Those who continue to be dispensed are those at increased risk of serious illness, compromised immune systems, and those responsible for their care. As always, those who are ill should remain home. Saint Luke Institute, an independent Catholic treatment center for clergy and religious, held its first-ever Virtual Benefit on Tuesday, October 20, 2020. The Most Reverend Christophe Pierre, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, hosted the event on video due to the social distancing guidelines mandated by the City of Washington, D.C., because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Normally, the annual benefit is held in person at the Apostolic Nunciature in Washington.
The first in the Cathedral Concert series presents "Peace then Still the Strife," a requiem by Gabriel Fauré on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. in Corpus Christi Cathedral. This powerful piece stands out among the requiem Masses for its more gentle, introspective character. It is sung in honor of all who have died of COVID-19. CORPUS CHRISTI, TX— Pope Francis is reported to have given an interview for a documentary in which he expresses his personal views on civil unions. In his reported interview statements, Pope Francis affirms the dignity of every human person as a child of God and loved by God, including those with same-sex attraction. In this private interview, the Pope is not changing Catholic teaching on marriage as between one man and one woman.

Mother Teresa of the Child Jesus, Foundress of the Pax Christi Sisters, at the age of 91 was called by the Heavenly Father Oct. 3 in Corpus Christi. Our beloved spiritual mother and Foundress has gone to be with Jesus in the heavenly glory after a long and a fruitful life marked by much suffering and joy. She left a legacy that will benefit the Pax Christi Sisters and those they will minister for the years to come.
Bishop Michael Mulvey joined hundreds of bishops throughout the U.S. and prayed a Rosary for America on the Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary, Oct. 7. In addition, Many priests and Catholics throughout the Diocese of Corpus Christi joined in this initiative from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).
KJZT Family Life members are bound together through our faith, and our faith is central to our lives. In response to the financial impact COVID – 19 had on Catholic Churches during the Easter Season, along with the festival season, KJZT Family Life donated over $90,000 to parishes across Texas, including local societies donations of $14,750.
