Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi, Inc. (CCCC) was awarded a long-term disaster recovery grant of $1,020,000 by Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) from funds received through the second collection offered by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). CCCC is a member of CCUSA, the official domestic disaster relief and response organization of the Catholic Church. The funds will be used to meet the local community’s ongoing recovery needs following Hurricane Harvey.

For nearly 70 years, the stained glass windows in the Welder Chapel at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital-Shoreline have inspired visitors through beautiful depictions of the story of Jesus. Now they are being painstakingly moved to a new chapel at the new 10-story Patient Care Tower being constructed at Shoreline Hospital. The upgrades to the Shoreline campus are part of an unprecedented $335 million investment in the community by CHRISTUS Health, with nearly $50 million made possible through the generosity of local philanthropists.
Growing up, many of my family’s summer vacations took place at the ocean. Whenever we could afford it we would head for Cape Cod, New Hampshire or Maine. As we kids splashed around in the saltwater or searched for shells, my mother loved to just sit and watch the waves crashing against the rocks. “I could stay here all day,” she’d often muse. We’d cringe at these words as we quickly grew bored and looked for the next great adventure!
