Wednesday, March 22, marked the 25th anniversary of Our Lady of the Rivers Court 2376 of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas organization at Sacred Heart Parish in Three Rivers. The ladies were recognized at a Mass that evening, with a special blessing by their pastor, Father Ryszard “Richard” Zielinski.
Sixty-eight men, including three priests, were received into the Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree at an exemplification ceremony held at St. Patrick’s Church in Corpus Christi on March 25. The men, who came from as far as Eagle Pass and Brownsville, are part of the 4th District of Texas, which encompasses the dioceses of Corpus Christi, Laredo and Brownsville.

The Bishop Garriga Middle Preparatory School Engineering Challenge Team brought home a first place from the Destination Imagination Regional Tournament and is headed to state competition in Lubbock, Texas on April 8. The team of Austin Frazier, Sophia Talbott and Nicolas Urbina designed, built and tested different types of structures made of balsa wood and glue that could only weigh up to 50 grams and hold weight on a structure tester.
Approval for Pope Francis remains high, a new poll by the Saint Leo University Polling Institute (http://polls.saintleo.edu) shows, and the issues he is addressing also garnered approval. The nonpartisan, online poll surveyed 1,073 adults in the United States from March 3–11. The results have a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Proceeds from this annual collection supports ministries and works in the Holy Land, largely under the direction of the Franciscans. The students taught the Little Angels how to create bracelets using thread and beads to represent the three disciplines of Lent: Faith, Hope, and Love.
Incarnate Word Academy sixth grade Middle Level students in Amber Farrar's first and third period math classes created piñatas in order to experience real world examples of how volume and surface area are used every day. Using the formula for surface area to calculate the dimensions of each side of their piñatas, the students were then able to figure out the volume of candy for their colorful creations.
