On Saturday, April 30, representatives from the national, state and local Catholic Daughters of the Americas came together in Corpus Christi for the blessing of their latest Habitat for Humanity build. The seventh home built in Texas and the 28th in the United States by Catholic Daughters was made possible by a $25,000 donation from the national CDA office and an equal amount contributed by local courts in Texas.

The Incarnate Word Academy’s varsity track and field teams competed at the TAPPS 4-4A District Meet from April 15-16 in San Antonio. The girls' team earned second place and the boys' team received fifth place. The teams will compete at the TAPPS 4-4A Regional Meet from April 28-29 at Northland Christian School in Houston.

The St. John Paul II High School Health Careers Club recently received a “Community Champions” grant from Constellation, an Exelon Company. The $500 grant was used to supplement funds to purchase CPR training kits from The American Heart Association CPR in the Schools Program.

Every four years, our country embarks on the election of a new president. The process by which a country chooses its leader is a solemn and noble task. At times, in the relatively young history of our country, this process has unfortunately become combative and contentious. Currently, there is no doubt that we are witnessing how disagreeable and oftentimes uncivil we can be to one another throughout this process.
