Over 600 people filled St. Pius X church at the 2013 Annual Jazz Mass concelebrated by Father Paul Hesse and Father Yul Ibay on Oct. 20 with Deacon David Hanson of Holy Cross Parish assisting.

Several hundred people joined Bishop Michael Mulvey for Mass at Sacred Heart parish in Three Rivers on Oct. 20 to give thanksgiving for this year’s harvest. This is the third year Bishop Mulvey has celebrated the Mass of Thanksgiving for the Harvest.

American Catholics have a unique opportunity next month to support Catholic ministry in the U.S. military and Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Centers by giving to a first-ever, special collection at Sunday Mass. Parishes across the country will take up the special collection for the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS) the weekend of Nov. 9-10. The collection is timed to coincide with Veterans Day, which follows on Monday.

The IWA Girls’ Cross-Country Team placed third at the state meet, which was hosted by Connally High School in Waco on Oct. 26.

As the month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary, Incarnate Word Academy Middle Level students prayed a living rosary on Tuesday, Oct. 22. Sixth, seventh and eighth grade students prayer the living rosary in the school’s James R. Dougherty Center.

Incarnate Word Academy is recognizing the week of Oct. 21-25 as National Bullying Prevention Week to encourage everyone to take an active role in the bullying prevention movement. October is National Bullying Prevention Month.
