SAN ANTONIO -- Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller, MSpS, hosted a Mass with the bishops of Texas for delegations from the various dioceses for the Year of Faith. The Mass took place at Mission San José the evening of April 22.
The invited guests represented cultural and ministerial cross sections of the great experience of the faith from throughout the 15 dioceses of Texas. Bishop Wm. Michael Mulvey of Corpus Christi was among the prelates at the liturgy.
Lectors were Johnnie Dorsey, director of the Black Catholic Office for the Diocese of Austin; and Gina Dominguez, education coordinator for the Pro-Life Office for the Austin Diocese.
Homilist was Auxiliary Bishop Mark Seitz of the Diocese of Dallas, recently named bishop of El Paso by Pope Francis.
Representatives of various cultures presented intercessions in their own languages. Prayers were recited for the church through the world, for families, for teachers of the faith, for the sick and suffering, for those called to vocations in the church, and for justice and peace.
Music for the liturgy was provided by the San Antonio archdiocesan choir, directed by Rick McLaughlin.
