Father Sam Meley, SOLT makes presentation to religious educators and catechists at faith educators workshop.
The diocesan Office of Evangelization and Catechesis held its first of three Faith Educators' Workshops at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Corpus Christi on Saturday, Sept. 17. Father Sam Medley, SOLT addressed some 165 catechists on the types of prayer, the spirituality of the catechist and prayer in the catechetical process.
The workshops are annual events that focus on the theme for Catechetical Sunday, which this year fell on Sunday, Sept. 18. The theme for Catechetical Sunday is "The Faith Prayed".
This workshop is offered three times to enable all those in catechetical ministry to attend, director of Evangelization and Catechesis Therese Recinella said.
Two more presentations will take place on Saturday Sept. 24 at St. Joseph Parish in Kingsville from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. The presenter at this workshop will be Father Brady Williams, SOLT. Father Medley will be the presenter at the third and final workshop to be held at and Our Lady of Guadalupe Sinton from 2-5:30 p.m.
While the workshops are intended for those in catechetical ministry, theological formation and practical application of the theme for Catechetical Sunday, anyone can attend. Walk in registration is welcome, Recinella said.
