Most Precious Blood Parish recently hosted “Discovery Mission” Catholic Vocation Bible School. Throughout the week, about 30 children in grades 1-5 learned about marriage, priesthood and religious life through lessons, music, arts and crafts and meaningful prayer time.
Lisa Gonzales-Saenz, one of the camp organizers, said the camp would not have been possible without the support from their parish pastor, Father Joseph A. Lopez and parochial vicar, Father RJ Regalado. “They were always there with support for whatever we needed as we planned and executed the camp.
“We also could not have done this without the amazing volunteers who helped along the way,” she said. “We told the children it was important to understand this was not Vacation Bible School, but Vocation Bible School. Vacation is something fun you do with your family during summer break. Vocation is something you do for God, and we were here all week at camp to learn about different ways to honor God.”
“My kids wanted to come every day and really enjoyed it,” said Candice Moreno, mother of campers Olivia, 6, and Marco, 8. “They did fun activities that kept them engaged, like decorating a mason jar with colored pieces of paper. Later, at home, we’ll put a candle inside and light it when saying special prayers. This camp had a wonderful, positive impact on the children.”
