Three achieve Eagle Scout rank

Bradley Frank Becker, Warren Christopher Kingsbury and James Edward Matl were awarded the rank of Eagle Scout.

Three scouts were awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on May 12 at St. Patrick Parish Hall. An Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held to acknowledge their accomplishments.

Bradley Frank Becker, who attends Incarnate Word Academy, built a 35-foot bridge over a creek for the Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program at the Nueces Delta Preserve off Highway 77 in Odem. The Nueces Delta Preserve takes children on educational nature field trips.

Becker’s bridge will allow children to cross the creek, go on nature walks and learn about nature and its inhabitants.

His grandfather John Uhr escorted Becker, who is a resident of Rockport and is the son of Dee Becker and the late Frank Becker.

For his Eagle Scout project Warren Kingsbury, a 2012 graduate of Flour Bluff High School, built five four-foot benches and five six-foot benches to benefit Our Lady of Corpus Christi. The benches will provide retreat participants a place for fellowship and will also provide a space for seminarians to engage in scholarly discussions.

Kingsbury is the son of Mary Fraga-Kingsbury and William C. Kingsbury, both of Corpus Christi. His brother, Eagle Scout William C. Kingsbury Jr., escorted him.

James Matl, a student at Incarnate Word Academy, built two drinking fountains for his parish, St. Helena of the True Cross of Jesus. With the help of volunteers, Matl laid a 50-square foot concrete foundation on which he constructed two brick water fountains.

The drinking fountains provide easy access to water for children playing on the playground behind the parish hall. Matl is the son of Peter and Lisa Matl of Corpus Christi. His brother, Eagle Scout Matthew Charles Matl, escorted him.
