Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi is launching its annual “40 Cans for Lent” food drive on Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2025, to support individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. The drive will run through Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025.
Community members are encouraged to donate canned goods, dry goods, and other non-perishable food items to help stock local food pantries. Donations of healthy alternatives such as low-fat, low-sugar, low-sodium, and diabetic-friendly items are especially needed to support individuals with chronic illnesses and dietary restrictions.
“Access to nutritious food is essential, especially for those facing chronic illnesses and food insecurity. By donating healthy options, we can support the well-being of individuals and families in our community,” said a representative from Catholic Charities.
Donation collection boxes will be available at various Catholic parishes and community agencies throughout the Coastal Bend. Food donations will benefit food pantries at: • Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi, 615 Oliver Ct., Corpus Christi, TX 78408 • Holy Family Catholic Church, 2509 Nogales St., Corpus Christi, TX 78418 • Flour Bluff – St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 2233 Waldron Rd., Corpus Christi, TX 78418 • Mother Teresa Shelter, 513 Sam Rankin Ave., Corpus Christi, TX 78401
Food bins are available for pickup at Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi for organizations and groups wishing to participate.
