Students received superior
ratings at state art competition

Incarnate Word Academy sophomore Millicent Alvarado and junior Jessica Bang both received superior ratings at the state Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) competition on April 23 in San Antonio.
 
Jessica received a superior rating of 4 in the drawing category and was honored with a medal.
 
A superior rating of 4 is the highest rating possible at the VASE competition.
 
Millicent received a superior rating of 4 in the sculpture category and received a Gold Seal award. The Gold Seal award is given to the top 150 works at the state event.
 
In addition, Millicent received a $100 scholarship for her 3D sculpting skills at an on-site scholarship competition. Her sculpture is currently on the road to be shown at various museums and universities around the state.
