Students meet with 

college representatives

A Texas A&M Application Workshop for Incarnate Word Academy seniors was held in the high school level’s College and Career Guidance Center on Aug. 31.
 
Incarnate Word Academy students will continue to meet with college representatives until Nov. 1 to learn about admission requirements, course offerings, campus environment, as well as other information pertinent to the college-selection process.
 
As the process of applying to and selecting a college becomes more and more competitive and complex, IWA is committed to providing students and families with college-planning resources.
 
One of the many ways IWA prepares its students for college is through college visits, which are scheduled throughout the school year.
 
“Our students, and parents, can expect to learn more about the college application process at these visits,” Academic and Guidance Counselor Sherilyn Calhoun said.
 
“College representatives are going to provide unique insight into what it takes to be a competitive applicant,” Calhoun said. “They are also going to discuss topics such as scholarships, majors, and the importance of applying early.”
 
In addition to college visits on campus, IWA is inviting its students and parents to attend its college fair as well as several college application and financial aid workshops the school is hosting this school year.
 
This past year, 100% of IWA’s Class of 2016 was accepted to a college or university – 98% of those students were accepted to four-year major universities. The class, with 47 seniors, received a total of $3.7 million in scholarship offers.
