In preparation for Advent and Christmas, Father Paul Hesse, the pastor of St. Pius X, held a question and answering session with students at St. Pius X School Youth Center on Nov. 30.
St. Pius X students shared what they loved about the season. Kindergartner Kylie Behn shared that she loved the Christmas cookies.
After Father Hesse explained that even though the fun things they love about Christmas are good, they must prepare for the most important thing. Asking what they thought that was —second grader Rainey Callison answered, “It’s Christ.”
When asked what the candles on the advent wreath meant, first grader John Paul Welch said each candle represented “Hope, Love, Joy, and Peace.”
Father Hesse answered questions at the end of the session. One student asked why priests wore red at Mass, and students ended up discussing saints and martyrs.
“Our students enjoyed learning from Father Paul and loved his Advent talk,” said Beth Hinojosa, principal of St. Pius X School.
