In remembrance of the 15th anniversary of the deadly attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beeville held a prayer walk for peace on Sunday, Sept. 11.
“Now, as in those initial days, we turn to God to help us deal with troubling situations and to call forth the best that is in each and every person,” Father Richard Gonzales, pastor at St. Joseph Parish said.
Father Gonzales, the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, altar servers and members of the Divine Mercy Society led parishioners and visitors on a 9-11 outdoor Eucharistic procession to pray for healing, strength and protection for our country.
Sunday also marked the first day of religious education classes for kindergarten through high school students. They, too, along with their teachers, joined in the prayer walk.
Father Gonzales paused at each corner of the block to pray and bless Beeville and the entire nation, especially those who serve our community— police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel and all who put their lives on the line every day to protect us.
More than 100 faithful united to praise and worship and most of all, to remember.
