The St. John Paul II Cross Country team competed in the Angel Mile on Friday, Aug. 19. Team members participating in the Angel Mile included Alexandria Serna (Junior), Gabriella Ayarzagoitia (Junior), Jeanette Rosario (Sophomore), Abigail Mondragon (Senior), Anna Cisneros (Senior), Sarah Lee Sang (Freshman), Melissa Rosario (Senior) and Shania Esquivel (Junior.
"Juniors Alexandria Serna and Gabriella Ayarzagoitia look like they have a good chance at making the all-district team as well as competing at the state meet," Coach Marco Hernandez.
The coach said Jeanette Rosario would be the team's strongest runner that other teams would need to "worry about near the end of the race."
Seniors Cisneros and Mondragon could complete the team with being the fourth and fifth runners. Mondragon competed at the state meet last year. Cisneros has never run Cross Country before, but the coach said "she will help the team out a lot later throughout the season."
Sang is the only freshman runner running in the junior varsity division.
