St. Anthony School celebrated National Catholic Schools Week on Jan. 31-Feb. 6. Students observed the week starting with Mass on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. followed by Open House.
There were several activities during the week: Monday was Career Day and guests gave talks on their careers; on Tuesday some of the students participated in a Talent Show; on Wednesday the school participate in a Parade of Books, where students dressed up as a favorite storybook character; on Thursday there was Bible/Religion Trivia, Spelling Bee, Chess Tournament, and a parent luncheon; and Friday was Field Day.
Bible and Religion Trivia winners from K5 were Makenzie Martinez, who won first place and Mya Flores, who won second place. Winners from the first-grade were: Jordan Flores, who won first place and Maria Jose Villegas, who won second place. Winners from the second-grade were Josiah Villarreal, who won first place and Andrew Ramirez, who won second place. Winners from the third-grade were Jacob Pacheco, who won first place and Jayme Hernandez won second place. Winners from the fourth-grade were Jolissa Mayorga who won first place and Emanuel Villegas (not pictured), who one second place Winners from the fifth-grade were Victor Chapa, who won first place and Ysabella Rodriguez, who won second place. Sixth-grader Lucas Gonzales won first place and seventh-grader Robert Rodriguez placed second.
The 3rd-8th grade Chess Tournament winners were eighth-grader Isaias Gonzales, who won 1st place and seventh-grader Jesse Cisneros, who won second place.
