Three Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods who taught at St. John Nepomucene in Robstown are celebrating their 75 th and 70 th anniversary jubilees this year. They are Sisters Helen Dolores Losleben, Sister Marie Victoria Podesta and Sister Ann Jeanette Gootee. Sister Helen Dolores, a native of Anaheim, California who currently ministers as a volunteer at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, is celebrating her 75 th jubilee. She entered the Congregation on July 16, 1939, and professed perpetual vows on Jan. 23, 1948. She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in English and earned her master’s degree in education from DePaul University. She taught in Robstown from 1979-84. Sister Ann Jeanette, celebrating 70 years in consecrated life, is a native of Indianapolis and currently ministers in prayer at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. Sister Ann Jeanette entered the Congregation Jan. 10, 1944, from St. Philip Neri, Indianapolis and professed perpetual vows Aug. 15, 1951. She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in music. She earned her master’s degree in music history literature from Butler University and a master’s degree in social work from St. Louis University. She taught at St. John's in Robstown from 1949-50 and 1951-52. Sister Marie Victoria, also celebrating 70 years, is a native of Chicago and currently ministers in health care and prayer at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. She entered the Congregation July 22, 1944, from St. Mel, Chicago and professed perpetual vows Jan. 23, 1952. She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in education and received her master’s degree in education from St. Louis University. Her ministry at St. John's was from 1959-63. The Sisters of Providence, a Congregation of nearly 350 women religious, exist to further God’s loving plans by devoting themselves to serving others through works of love, mercy and justice. The Sisters of Providence have their motherhouse at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, located just northwest of downtown Terre Haute, Ind. Saint Mother Theodore Guerin founded the Sisters of Providence at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods in 1840. Today, Sisters of Providence minister in 17 states, the District of Columbia and Asia.
