Sister Ann Kevin O’Connor died on Aug. 24 in Mother Theodore Hall, St. Mary-of-the-Woods. She taught at St. John School in Robstown from 1960-63.
She was born to Vincent L. and Nellie Barton O’Connor on July 24, 1925 and was baptized Theresa Ann. Sister Ann Kevin entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence on July 22, 1943 and professed final vows Jan. 23, 1951.
She earned a BS degree from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and an MA degree from Clarke University in Dubuque, Ia.
In her 73 years as a Sister of Providence, she ministered in education for 34 years in schools in Indiana, Illinois, California, Missouri and Texas. For six of these years, she served as principal.
Having acquired good computer skills, she moved into a variety of positions related to record keeping, secretarial work, and office management. Until her last months, she enjoyed using her computer skills to create cards, especially birthday cards for sisters.
Sister Ann laid to rest in the cemetery of the Sisters of Providence in Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana.
