Incarnate Word Academy recognizes Sister Agnes Marie Tengler, IWA graduate of 1943, will receive the President's Leadership Award on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Annual Distinguished Alumni Awards Dinner at the Corpus Christi Country Club at 6 p.m.
The IWA Foundation, hosting the event, as part of the Alumni Homecoming Reunion Weekend will award Sister Tengler the highest honor ever bestowed on a former student of IWA.
Sister Agnes Marie was selected to receive this award for faithfully representing the “core values” of an IWA student - faith, dignity, compassion, integrity, dedication, gratitude, and service - long after graduating, and for her outstanding achievements in Catholic Education.
She will be honored along with 2014 Distinguished Alumni, Fred Nemec, CCCA '58, Linda Ford West '72, Christine Canterbury, M.D. '84, and David Morales '86, as well as Distinguished Alumni Rising Star, Jason Anthony Zamora '94.
Since 1989, 66 Incarnate Word Academy and Corpus Christi College Academy graduates have been awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award, however, this is the first time that IWA President and CEO, Charles D. Imbergamo, will present the Incarnate Word Academy President's Leadership Award.
"Leadership is always associated with a certain commitment and dedication to service. In light of our faith and the Gospel, leadership takes on a very real giving of self, a giving that is more selfless than boastful. Sister Agnes Marie Tengler is a model of such leadership. Her love, dedication, constancy, and prayerful life has inspired generations of Incarnate Word Academy Angels. Over seven decades, Sr. Agnes Marie's example to the Church and to this school makes her more than worthy of this inaugural President's Leadership Award," said President and CEO of Incarnate Word Academy, Charles D. Imbergamo.
