Nathaniel Seth Dominguez, a kindergarten student at St. Joseph School in Alice, passed away on June 8, 2014. He was six-years-old and was known for his smile and sweet disposition, always bringing joy to his classmates and teachers.
Shortly after Nathaniel's death, everyone at St. Joseph's School wanted to do something to memorialize his life so that the children would remember him. At the suggestion of Father Pete Elizardo, pastor at St. Joseph's parish, school personnel, students and parents began to build a prayer garden to be named Nathaniel's Prayer Garden.
In late December 2014, a meeting was held with Pete Beltran, owner of Grass Master's Landscaping, and a plan for the project was developed and work on the garden began in January 2015. After some delays prompted by bad weather, the garden has been completed and the school is conducting a fund raising project to purchase and install benches at the garden, which will be dedicated later this year.
