CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – On April 18, he Incarnate Word Academy Foundation will host a Scholarship Recognition Luncheon for more than 200 students, contributors, as well as Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament (IWBS) Sisters. This special event, which starts at 11:30 a.m. at the James R. Dougherty Center, is in its 10th year.
The luncheon provides an opportunity for scholarship recipients to meet the contributors who have made their scholarships and education possible. Featured speakers for this year’s luncheon include IWA Foundation President and IWBS Superior General, Sister Michelle Marie Kuntscher.
In addition, scholarship recipients, senior Deanna Ramirez and junior Jacob Bartlett, will share how their scholarships have had a profound impact on their educational experience.
“Without the support of the scholarship donors and benefactors, I know that I would never have been able to receive the many blessings and opportunities that an IWA education has given me,” said Deanna, an honor student, basketball player and altar server. “Scholarship donors have given my peers and me a priceless gift, and we will forever be grateful for it.”
For the 2012-13 school year, 35 percent of IWA middle and high school level students received a scholarship or a tuition award. These scholarships help the school recruit and retain a talented and diverse student body.
