Saenz will direct effort to preserve faith, family and freedom

AUSTIN, Texas—On Oct. 12, Liberty Institute announced the launch of “Texas Values,” a new Texas-focused effort, dedicated to the preservation of Texas’ most precious values--faith, family and freedom. Jonathan Saenz, an attorney and legislative director for Liberty Institute since 2005, will serve as president.

Texas Values is dedicated to preserving and advancing a culture of family values in the state and stands for biblical, Judeo-Christian values by ensuring Texas is a state where religious liberty flourishes, families prosper, and every human life is valued, the Liberty Institute said in a press release.

“As a native Texan, I am blessed to lead the charge for this new, exciting venture and to be an outspoken voice for Texans on the foundational principals of faith, family and freedom at the Capitol and across the state,” Saenz said.

Even though Texas Values is a new name, its roots are deeply ingrained in Liberty Institute’s 40-year legacy of protecting religious freedom and strengthening families. Texas Values will continue Liberty Institute’s state-focused efforts, including public education of values issues and elections, policy research and legal analysis, grassroots mobilization and testimony before governmental bodies.

“I give Texas Values my full support. There is no more important cause than to protect Texans’ faith, family and freedom. I am confident that Texas Values will be among the strongest and most influential voices on these issues,” Liberty Institute President Kelly Shackelford said.

“Texans across the state are alarmed at the growing attacks on our values and constitutional rights. Texas Values has answered the bell and I know my good friend Jonathan Saenz and his team are ready to help more Texans stand up for their rights and values.” Cathie Adams, President of Texas Eagle Forum said.

Retired Texas Supreme Court Justice Raul A. Gonzalez sais, “A return to our most important values is what we desperately need in our state. Texas Values will lead this effort and for that they have my full support.”

The new venture also got the support of Pastor Ryan Rush of Bannockburn Baptist Church in Austin who said, “Our culture in Texas is not immune to negative outside influences, and that’s why we need an effort that is focused on highlighting what’s right for Texans, and that is why I support Texas Values.”
