Persons with a disability celebrate Ash Wednesday with Vietnam Vets

Deacon Michael Rauen administers ashes to persons with disabilities in attendance at an Ash Wednesday celebrated at the United Vietnam Veterans of Texas VFW Post 2397 on March 5. The Mass was held as part of the Catholic Charities Office of Ministry and Life Enrichment for the Disabled program to minister to the disabled. The veterans cooked, served and paid for plates of fried fish and sides distributed after the service. This is the fourth year the veterans have hosted this service for the community.

Catholic Charities Office of Ministry and Life Enrichment for the Disabled celebrated Ash Wednesday at the United Vietnam Veterans of Texas VFW Post 2397 on March 5. Deacon Michael Rauen prayed and distributed ashes to the veterans and the 75 persons with disabilities in attendance.

President Lazaro O. Camarillo, III, parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Corpus Christi and commander of the VFW Post 2397 was pleased with the turnout. The veterans cooked, served and paid for plates of fried fish and sides distributed after the service. Camarillo said that this is their fourth year of providing this service to the community.
