Msgr. Morgan Rowsome, a retired priest of the Diocese of Corpus Christi, released a new book entitled "Hands are for loving, healing and helping." He previously published, "Laughing louder and living longer." Msgr. Rowsome held a book signing at People's Restaurant in Calallen on Nov. 24.
"I have been very blessed and God has always put the right people in my life when I needed them," Msgr. Rowsome said. "So the book is about my parents, my family, my teachers, priests, bishops, doctors, surgeons, nurses, friends, co-workers, parish volunteers and many of them are mentioned in the book."
The book is dedicated to Msgr. Rowsome's nieces and nephews in Texas and Ireland.
"Of course I want to sincerely thank all the wonderful people who helped with the production of this book. I owe a great debt of gratitude to Audri Quintero who typed and arranged the pictures. I’m also very grateful to Millie Jarnagin, Wilma Emshoff and a former secretary in San Antonio named Minerva Farias. They all helped with proof reading, ideas, pictures etc.," he said.
Msgr. Morgan wrote about bishops and three priests who were "great gifts to me." The priests are Msgr. Pat Higgins, Msgr. Tom McGettrick and the Msgr. Seamus McGowan.
In addition to articles on the many friends and colleagues that helped him throughout his life, Msgr. Rowsome also includes passages about prayer and a summary of "important lessons" he learned over the years and his "happy memories of my 19 years at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles."
“Hands” is on sale at the Pax Christi Religious Store on Calallen Drive.
