Sister Bernadette Bezner has served as the director of the Sisters of Divine Providence Mobile Ministry for eight years, and now the sisters have name Sister Mary Bordelon, CDP to replace Sister Bernadette as the new director.
Mobile Ministry involves a team of sisters and at times lay associates of the Sisters of Divine Providence, who go out to spread the message of God’s love and promote spiritual growth. The presenters are well-qualified individuals with years of experience in ministry.
Sister Virginia Huser is the assistant director and is one of the main presenters. Mobile Ministry speakers travel to different parts of Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma with programs designed to meet the audience, culture and ideals of the individual parish or region.
Sister Mary recently returned to Texas after five years working as a pastoral coordinator in a parish in the Diocese of Savannah. Previous to that she worked as Director of Catholic Community Services for the Diocese of Alexandria, including doing two years of Disaster Relief in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
Sister Mary also was Director of Parish Social Ministry for Catholic Charities in Beaumont, and in parishes in Louisiana from 1985-1994, including being Pastoral Administrator of a parish with not resident priest. She has degrees in Religious Studies (Bachelor of Arts) from Our Lady of the Lake University of San Antonio and a Master of Religious Education from Loyola University in New Orleans.
Many of the programs that Mobile Ministry has done and is willing to do again are listed on the Web site of the Sisters of Divine Providence at
www.cdptexas.org. However, the goal remains to tailor programs to the needs of the individual school or parish, so the listed programs should just be seen as examples and not as the limits of the ministry.
