A newly-planted tree was blessed and dedicated on April 14 in memory of Incarnate Word Academy students Andrew and Leighton McComb, who were lost in the Wimberley Flood of May 2015.
Administrators, faculty, staff, students, and members of the McComb and Schultz families were in attendance.
Before the tree’s blessing and dedication ceremony, the McComb and Schultz families celebrated the permanent status of the McComb Family Memorial Scholarship at IWA’s Scholarship Donor Appreciation Luncheon.
The scholarship was established in 2015 in memory of IWA Elementary Level-Montessori students Andrew and Leighton, and their mother, Laura Schultz McComb. Laura was also lost in the Wimberley Flood.
During the memorial tree’s blessing and dedication ceremony, students sang “On Eagles Wings” and hugged members of Andrew’s and Leighton’s family.
The memorial tree was lovingly donated by the IWA Elementary Level PTO.
