Linda McKamie, who has served as executive director for Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi and the Mother Teresa Shelter, has announced her retirement for health reasons. The Catholic Charities board is searching for a new director, but Mike McLellan is serving as interim CEO.
Bishop Michael Mulvey said that in McKamie’s 13 years of service she had done a “marvelous” job, holding the agency together and expanding it into other areas of need. She collaborated with other agencies in the city and in surrounding counties to ensure they served the poor and homeless, the bishop said.

“She’s done so much. She set the bar very high for the work we want to do for the needy,” Bishop Mulvey said. “She is just a unique person. She has a spiritual life that is so evident.”
The bishop said McKamie was not out of the picture and would be available to share her wisdom and experience; “we’re just letting her retire.”
Anyone wishing to contribute in recognition of her service can do so by calling Catholic Charities at (361) 884-0651.
“Linda championed the marginalized in our community and truly loved her ministry at Catholic Charities. Although she will be sorely missed in the daily operations, her legacy will continue to motivate others to action,” Catholic Charities board chair Sammie Grunwald said.
