Lives of IWA’s faithful departed family celebrated with Mass
November7,2012
CORPUS CHRISTI– Incarnate Word Academy IWA Alumni and students gathered at the Incarnate Word Convent to celebrate the school’s annual Memorial Mass on Sunday, Nov. 4.
In keeping with tradition, the Mass began with a special memorial candle light procession. Names of deceased alumni were placed on the altar during Mass, along with the names of recently deceased grandparents, parents, spouses, siblings and other loved ones.
Their lives were celebrated with a Mass celebrated by former IWA Chaplain Msgr. Richard Shirley. The presence of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and many generations of IWA Alumni and current families was comforting to those who were mourning the loss of loved ones.
A special reception was held at the high school cafeteria following Mass where the old and new friends united in community.
