The Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is always a highlight for the Federations of Our Lady of Guadalupe Societies. Many came together to celebrate Mass with Bishop Mulvey, while a group already started as a procession at Sacred Heart Church, saying the rosary on the streets of Corpus Christi.
The Matachines from Alice honored the Virgin with their dance, and Bishop Mulvey and the concelebrating priests offered roses to Our Lady. In his homily, the bishop mentioned the tender eyes of Our Lady, who is addressing Juan Diego as her son. He suggested listening when praying for the upcoming Jubilee Year of Hope: “Let’s listen, bringing our problems, our joys and our situations to her. Look into her eyes and listen.” He continued, “You will hear, ‘I love you.’”
Today, when many people lack love and a sense of being, this message is crucial: “You are not a nobody; you are her child.” He recommended spending time with her in this Jubilee Year.
At the end of the Mass, 16 Guadalupanas and Guadalupanos from different parishes received their medals as full members of the Society of Our Lady of Guadalupe. And there was a long line of people honoring the Virgin with flowers and prayer.
