St. John Paul II High School faculty, staff and students walk to raise funds for fight against breast cancer.
St. John Paul II High School faculty, staff and students observed their first ever Breast Cancer Awareness Walk on Oct. 17 on school grounds. The event was designed to raise funds to go directly to the American Cancer Society.
"We raised $1,000 by asking everyone to donate what they could," school spokeswoman Laura Okoniewski said. "We started the walk at 2 p.m. with a prayer and proceeded to walk the entire campus. Upon finishing the walk we released pink balloons in honor of all those who lost their battle with cancer."
The school also exhibited a pink chair from Radiology and Associates in its main lobby for the entire month of October. The chair represented a lost life from breast cancer.
