Jazz Mass filled parish with spirit filled music

Over 600 people filled St. Pius X church at the 2013 Annual Jazz Mass concelebrated by Father Paul Hesse and Father Yul Ibay on Oct. 20 with Deacon David Hanson of Holy Cross Parish assisting.

“Parishioners were inspired by the spirit filled music,” Father Hesse said. Some attendees overflowed into the aisles to hear the Jazz Mass Choir, directed by Marsha Hardeman, Minister of Music at Holy Cross Church, along with Eddie Olivares, founding member of the Texas Jazz Festival Society and Texas Jazz Festival Society President Rick Sanchez.

The Jazz Mass has been celebrated at Most Precious Blood and St. Patrick Churches in the past, but members of St. Pius X Parish asked Father Hesse if they could have it there again next year.
