Jaran Cadena brings new state record holder in TAPPS 4A 800 meters

Incarnate Word Academy senior Jaran Cadena is a new state record holder and champion of the TAPPS 4A 800 meter run. Cadena finished with a time of 1:55:83 at the TAPPS State Track and Field Meet, which was held in Waco. He broke the previous state record set in 2004.

In addition to Cadena, other boys varsity track and field teams placing at the state meet include: Jared Coco, Bronze Medal (3rd Place) in the 1600 Meter Run and 4th Place in the 3200 Meter; and the 4x400 Meter Relay of Michael Aaron Spillar, Cesar Hernandez, Vince Morin and Cadena came in 5th Place.

The girls’ placing at state were Samantha Simank Silver Medal (2nd Place) in the 1600 and 3200 Meter Runs; Christina Matl, Bronze Medalist (3rd Place) in the 3200 Meter Run; Maggie Pesek, Bronze Medalist (3rd Place) in Pole Vault; and Erin Kuffel 5th place in Pole Vault.
