IWA welcomes first ever head football coach

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Incarnate Word Academy welcomes Grant Ritchie to Angel Territory as the first Head Football Coach in IWA history. Ritchie will prep IWA’s new 6-man football team for its first official TAPPS season in the 2023-2024 school year.

Ritchie, also known as “Coach Bear” by his players, comes to IWA as an IWA alumni parent and brings extensive knowledge and experience in the sport of 6-man football. Ritchie has held several football coaching duties including Director of Football Operations, Head Varsity and Junior High coach, and Offensive Coordinator for 6-man football organizations, including CC Wings and CCHS Badgers.

When asked about IWA and the new football program, Ritchie said, “I am so grateful to IWA for the education it provided for my children. The rich history and culture of the school is a shining beacon for the Corpus Christi community. I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to add to this rich history as the first Head Football Coach.”
