Incarnate Word Academy senior Harmon Dobson was selected to perform with musical professionals in the orchestra at the Boar's Head and Yule Log Festival on Jan. 10.
The Boar's Head and Yule Log Festival, which is hosted by First Christian Church, featured over 200 talented individuals who performed in the cast, orchestra, hand bells, and choir.
IWA Band Director Joe Hernandez said Harmon is the first high school student ever to be selected to perform in the festival's orchestra.
"Harmon was selected by Del Mar Director of Choral Activities Dennis Richardson," Hernandez said. "It's neat to see someone you have taught from very young perform with professionals and spread his wings."
Harmon said he was honored to be chosen to perform at the festival.
"It's a pretty great feeling," Harmon said. "I think it helped me grow as a musician."
In addition to being a trumpet player in the Angel Band, Harmon is a member of the Corpus Christi Youth Symphony and Corpus Christi Municipal Band.
Harmon said he plans on attending Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in the fall to major in music education or performance.
