CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Incarnate Word Academy High School is hosting the TAPPS Regional Music Competition on Friday, March 1. About 25 students from Incarnate Word Academy, along with students from Blessed John Paul II High School, will compete in six categories in the IWA High School Music Hall.
The categories include choir, large ensemble, medium ensemble, jazz ensemble, vocal solos and instrumental solos.
IWA Band Director Joe Hernandez and IWA Choir Teacher Frank Cano said they are honored to host the competition to showcase the talent within our Catholic schools.
“Today is the day to see how well all that hard work has paid off,” Cano said.
“I look forward to seeing the judge’s faces when we play our tunes. We have been preparing for this competition. So we hope to hit it out of the park,” junior Evan Buhidar said. The third-year percussionist took first place at the TAPPS State Music Competition last year.
