Eight middle level students represented IWA at the state meet. In addition to Sheridan, others participating at the meet were Justin Cavazos, Paris Hanna, Jackie Rodriguez, Danielle Harrel, Helena Van Maren, Caitlyn Martinez and Julio “J.R.” Ramos. They competed in categories such as historical paper, group exhibit and individual documentary.
J. R. received Distinguished Achievement by advancing to finals in the Junior Individual Documentary category for his work titled “The Internet.”
Before qualifying for the State History Fair, the eight students placed in the Coastal Bend Regional History Fair at Texas A&M University-Kingsville in March.
"I am beyond proud that all of the students' hard work has paid off," IWA History Teacher Trisha Osborne-Kay said.
The students’ participation in events such as the history fair is a perfect example of how our students have the intellectual, moral, creative, and organizational skills necessary to succeed in higher education and life paths of their choice.
