Incarnate Word Academy celebrated
National Catholic Schools Week, Jan. 26-30. The school held a campus-wide Mass and a
a student/parent luncheon on Jan. 28 and their were a variety of class projects
and many activities throughout the week.
In keeping with the years theme, "
Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service,” IWA focused on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to the Church, the communities and the nation.
On Monday the week kicked off with an elementary level prayer service in the school’s James R. Dougherty, Jr. Center. After the prayer service, KRIS-TV Anchor Bart Bedsole and KZTV Sports News Anchor Tessa Barrera were on campus to read to elementary level students.
On Tuesday, there was an elementary level open house for current parents and on Wednesday
a career day also at the elementary level.
Throughout the week, middle level and high school level students from Mrs. Limpke’s art classes and Sr. Judith Marie Saenz’s religious studies classes created and displayed posters in celebration of National Catholic Schools Week.
On Thursday IWA elementary level held a WORD 101 Open House for prospective families.
To end the week’s activities, elementary level students participated in a poetry and essay contest based on the theme of National Catholic Schools Week.
