The Incarnate Word Academy high school level boys track and field team placed fourth in the TAPPS 4A State Track and Field Meet in Waco from May 10-11. Jackson Bright earned two gold medals in the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs and breaking the state record in the 3,200 meter run.
Jared Coco earned two bronze medals placing third in the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs.
Jaran Cadena placed fourth in the 800-meter run and sixth in the-400 meter run; J. L. Bronold placed fourth in discus and fifth in shot put; and Vince Morin placed eighth in long jump.
Khoa Nguyen, Vincent Morin, Jason Simank and Cadena placed eighth in the 1,600-meter relay.
On the girls team, Samantha Simank placed fourth in the 3,200-meter run; Cassidy Faught placed seventh in the 800-meter run; Bianca Valderrama placed fifth in discus; and Maggie Pesek placed fourth in pole vault.
“I am very proud of both teams,” IWA Coach David Rodriguez said.
