IWA athlete named athlete of the week by ESPN 1440 AM

Incarnate Word Academy’s junior Jared Coco has been named Athlete of the Week by ESPN 1440 AM. The Athlete of the Week Award was presented to Jared on Thursday, Oct. 31, at the high school.

“We heard of his performance at the (cross country) state meet and it was a great opportunity to show our support for a cross county athlete. Other fall sports sometimes get lost in the shadows of football,” Doug Kesterson with 1440 AM said.

Coco recently placed third at the TAPPS 4A State Cross-Country Meet in Waco, where the Angels won their second consecutive state championship title. He is the son of Joe Coco and Margot Ortega-Coco, of Corpus Christi.
