Students enrolled in the Incarnate Word Academy Elementary Level’s Montessori program celebrated Maria Montessori’s 143rd birthday on Friday, Aug. 30.
The Montessori program, which bears her name, gives importance to the creative potential of a child while emphasizing independent thinking. It’s aimed at bringing out the natural mental development of a child.
In addition, students in Patricia Rivera’s classroom created a booklet and a timeline on Montessori’s life. They will be sharing their reasons for why they enjoy the Montessori program.
The Incarnate Word Academy Elementary Level’s Montessori program is the oldest Montessori school in Corpus Christi and is committed to excellence in Montessori education. The program offers the fullest possible development of the whole child.
“Our Montessori program encourages a child's natural curiosity and instills a life-long love of learning. It provides an environment that teaches respect, compassion, and responsibility for each other and for the environment,” a school representative said.
