Sister Maria Adaya Vasquez, OP with the Dominican Sisters of St. Thomas Aquinas in Mexico and living at the St. Thomas Aquinas Convent in Anaville, went to her Eternal rest on Oct. 24.
She was born on Aug. 15, 1933 in Mexico City, the oldest of five children including three brothers and one sister. At the age of 16 she consecrated her life to God. She spent more than 40 years teaching in her native Mexico.
She was sent to Corpus Christi in 2003. She was an example of constant prayer, observant of all the rules and constitutions of the Order. She was very compassionate with those who suffered. She was a fervent believer in the Eucharist and truly loved our beloved Mother Mary.
A Rosary and funeral services were held at St. Peter, Prince of the Apostles on Oct. 27. She was laid to rest at Seaside Memorial Park.
