Together with Father Raymond Pendleton and Father Thomas Swierc, a third young man from the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT) was ordained as a priest this Saturday by Bishop Michael Mulvey.
He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and studied music at the University of Nebraska and the University of Missouri. “My mom was a lay member of SOLT in the '70s and 80's, so our family was always close to the community when I was growing up,” he shared about his vocation.
After graduation, he worked as a violin teacher. He genuinely tried to grow spiritually: “I felt God calling me to do more with my life, so I joined several parish ministries and helped with fundraisers for the SOLT Montessori school in Kansas City. But I always felt that no matter what I did, God was calling me to do more.” Then, two unlikely people within the same week asked him if he had ever considered the priesthood. "After a powerful experience of the Lord's presence seemingly confirming this vocation, I discerned the call and joined SOLT a year later as an aspirant to the priesthood.”
He made his first profession in the SOLT community in July 2017.
Father David Snow studied at Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit, a time he treasured: “I would say the highlight of my time at Sacred Heart was forging new friendships with my classmates. I hope and pray that even though we will be going our separate ways, this fraternity will remain and even continue to grow.” As a transitional deacon, he had the opportunity to give a Sunday homily on the beatitudes, for him a challenge and a joy; and baptize several children.
How was he preparing himself for this important moment? “In preparing for my priestly ordination, honestly, I am just trying to follow Jesus more closely. I am praying in a special way for wisdom and discernment in ministry so that I can be a man after his own heart and a bridge between him and his people.”
He is looking forward to working more closely and directly with the people of God after being removed from everyday life during his formation in the seminary. And his favorite part of the ministry is teaching children and youth.
