BEEVILLE, Texas – For eight years, a fundraising event called Beeville Ladies Night Out has grown in popularity in Beeville. This year, the special party for Beeville women with a Mardi Gras theme is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 21 at the Bee County Expo.
Recently, the 2011 Beeville Ladies Night Out Committee donated $26,000 to CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital. The donation from the 2011 event is expected to help sponsor a patient room in the hospital’s emergency department especially designed with children in mind.
“It is always heartbreaking when an emergency creates the need to rush a sick child to the hospital,” event founder Lou Adele May said. “A room decorated for kids engages their attention and eases their anxieties which allow doctors to better provide important medical attention.”
“We are honored to be the beneficiary of the proceeds each year,” said Raymond Ramos Chief Operating Officer (COO) for CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Beeville. “Every year, we have fun watching guests receive their Mardi Gras beads, eat great Cajun food prepared by the manager of Nutrition Services, Cherokee Saldiva, and her staff, as well as shop at distinctive vendor booths. My wife has already asked me to make sure I’ve reserved her tickets.”
The 2012 Beeville Ladies Night Out Committee Chair and Committee Members are Debbi Heard, chair; Leticia Munoz, co-chair; Lou Adele May (Founder); and members Linda Arnold, Catherine Carr, Connie Hatfield, Jackie Hughes, Mary Joy, Jessica Morrill, Meredith McKnight and Shirley O’Neil
In addition to the shopping, the 2012 Beeville Ladies Night Out event will be an opportunity to recognize a deserving young lady with career aspirations in nursing.
Demetria White will be awarded a $500 scholarship during Tuesday’s festivities. White, a student at Coastal Bend Community College, hopes to graduate in the spring with an Associate Degree in Applied Science.
Ramos along with Gilbert Perez, Earl Rossett and Javier Cuellar will act as volunteer greeters to the all female event.
