Should Catholics get cremated after death? What does the Church teach about in vitro fertilization? And why is Euthanasia considered unacceptable? Many hot topics today have an ethical component that needs expertise to be answered well. Fr. Richard Libby, Chancellor of the diocese and pastor of Saint Helena of the Cross, wanted to learn more and attended an 8-month-long course at the National Catholic Bioethics Center. Now he got his certificate for completing the program.
“It was a lot of work, but I enjoyed the topics very much,” he shares. He got reading and writing assignments every week and attended two in-person meetings with his class of 55 people. At the second one, at the end of April, he had an oral exam and discerned ethical questions as part of a mock Ethics committee.
Now Fr. Libby wants to share his knowledge and help to discern how to face complex ethical dilemmas. He will answer questions in the print issue of STC. If you have any questions, send them to Fr. Libby at [email protected].
