CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - This holiday season, Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi and The Mother Teresa Shelter invite the community to give the gift that blesses others less fortunate.
Between Nov. 19 and Dec. 31, with each donation of $10 or more to The Mother Teresa Shelter, an angel Christmas card will be mailed to the donor’s honorees to notify them of the tribute, without specifying the gift amount. For gifts of $25 or more per Christmas card, a keepsake Christmas tree ornament will also be included.
The Mother Teresa Shelter, located at 513 Sam Rankin St., Corpus Christi, is the area’s only day comprehensive shelter for the homeless. Each gift to The Mother Teresa Shelter helps its clients come for a place to eat, rest, clean up and care for their families. The shelter provides breakfast, snacks, laundry and shower facilities, job counseling, mental health services, medication supervision, communication with family and friends and outdoor productive pastimes and therapeutic activities to more than 200 people each day.
In 2012, the Mother Teresa Transitional Housing Facility opened to provide comprehensive services to temporarily homeless men. Clients are treated with respect and dignity.
“This is a wonderful way to Christmas shop and to help the homeless in our community at the same time,” Shannette Hoelscher, with Catholic Charities said.
