On Saturday, Jan. 3, local-area boy scout Aaron Guzman and his family gave up their morning to install a new flagpole in front of Holy Family Catholic Church in Corpus Christi. It was part of Guzman's Eagle Scout Project.
Guzman was able to raise funds for the project during the last few months by holding a car wash and a rummage sale.
"This is the 4th Eagle Scout project that has been presented to me and that I have signed off on," Father Patrick Donohoe, pastor of Holy Family, said. "I am very supportive of the Boy Scouts of America and all they do. I was very pleased and honored that this young man selected his home parish of Holy Family to do his Eagle Scout Project."
Father Donohoe said the new flagpole is a great addition to the parish and "looks fantastic."
"As a child of a military officer, it is an honor to have the American flag flying in front of our parish church." the pastor said.
Guzman's Eagle Scout Project has been well received by the parishioners of Holy Family church and surrounding community.
