CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - With the help of Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi, the Lawler family will be able to occupy a new home soon. The house, located at 1502 Howard in Corpus Christi will be named “The Dale Baird House” in memory of long-time Diocese of Corpus Christi employee Dale Baird.
The house will be ready for the Lawler family to move in on Thursday, Dec. 15.
Baird died Wednesday, Nov. 23. He retired as the Development Director for the Diocese of Corpus Christi in 2009. He was very active in RCIA, The Spirit Center and was an umpire for The Little Miss Kickball League for many years.
Mike and Cindy Boudloche and their staff, Mike and Terria Schmidt and their staff and Armando and Mary Ann Avalos and their staff donated “The Dale Baird House,” which will be completely furnished.
Bishop Emeritus Edmond Carmody will bless the house on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m, after which the keys will be presented to the Lawler family.
Donated food, a computer, cable service and a Christmas tree and decorations will help the family feel at home. The Lawlers will occupy the home for one year with a controlled monthly rent of $1, utilities included.
