In this Year of Faith, on Saturday, Sept. 28, the Diocese of Victoria will hold its 26th Annual Conference for Catechesis and Ministry at Holy Family of Joseph, Mary and Jesus Catholic Church located at 704 Mallette Drive in Victoria. Dr. Thomas H. Groome from Boston College will offer the keynote address, “Will There Be Faith? The Challenge of Catechesis in Our Time.”
Maria Apac Smith from St. Mary’s University will offer a Spanish keynote address “El Reto de la Nueva Evangelización para hoy.” Bishop David E. Fellhauer will celebrate the Sunday liturgy.
The conference offers an opportunity to “Open the Door of Faith” and continue the journey of discipleship.
“We live in extraordinary times. Our lives have been changed dramatically by 21st century technology, but the basic hunger and thirst to be fully human, fully alive still remains,” a diocesan representative said. “The quest for meaning in life and the longing for a relationship with the living God persists. More than ever, the mission of evangelization must continue by witness and by opening the door of faith for all who seek to know Jesus.”
The one-day conference is open to all adults. A multitude of workshops on various topics will be provided throughout the day. Catholic vendors and publishers will have religious articles, prayer books and an assortment of resources available for purchase.
