Del Mar recognizes Newman association

Isaac Nolte, the Young Adult and Campus Minister at Del Mar College, proudly displays awards received by the Catholic Newman Association at Del Mar College.

On May 11, the Del Mar College Registered Students Organization honored the Catholic Newman Association with three of the top awards on campus. The Newman Association was named Club of the Year and the Most Improved Club.

The association also received recognition for its annual book drive, which earned them the Club Project of the Year award. The book drive resulted in 1,200 books being donated to the Ark Assessment Center and Emergency Shelter for Youth and another 1,200 books going to the Mother Teresa Homeless Shelter.

“We are very encouraged by the recognition,” club president Isaac Nolte said.

The Catholic Newman Association at Del Mar College currently has 12 members and invites other student to join them. They meet every Thursday at 4 p.m. at St. Thomas More parish, located off campus at 2045 18th Street in Corpus Christi.
